Sons of the Sun is a series of four digital collages exploring the quiet sovereignty of everyday Nigerian life. Each piece extracts a figure or scene from the streets a head-load vendor beneath the Lekki Bridge, an okada rider crowned like a king, a veiled figure stripped to raw identity against a blood-red backdrop, and a tableau of soldiers, lovers and commuters suspended in an imagined cityscape and places them against vibrant, gradient skies that pulsate with heat and movement.

The recurring birds function as witnesses and symbols of freedom; the glowing orange suns as both literal Lagos heat and something more mythic. By divorcing subjects from their original documentary contexts and placing them in surreal, poster-like environments, the series resists the tendency to flatten African urban experience into hardship or chaos. Instead, it proposes another reading: these figures as monuments, as legends, as royalty moving through their own world with purpose and grace.

Sons of the Sun sits between photography, digital art and visual poetry asking the viewer to slow down, look closer, and recognise the epic hiding inside the everyday.
