Reine
Issue 1 (December 2025)
Reine, which means “Queen,” speaks to the quiet strength, presence and authority found in the lives, stories and spaces featured in this inaugural issue of Numen of Story.
It carries both a literal and metaphorical sense of sovereignty—over memory, place and imagination.
Through this issue, we invite you to reflect on the people, moments and communities that quietly shape our cultures and experiences. We aim to celebrate the elegance, resilience and power of the African perspective in art, creating a space to honour the unseen, the overlooked and the forces that quietly reign within our shared landscapes.
Reine is not about titles or crowns. It is a tribute and a meditation on resilience that is gentle but unwavering, present in the ways stories are told, in the shaping of place, and in the act of paying attention.
Enjoy and celebrate with us this important milestone in the creation of the journal.
