These untitled graphite and charcoal work describes how I understand rest not as an absence of action, but as a site of profound labour. I present stillness as the foundation upon which genuine growth is built, rather than a luxury to be earned. Within the quiet spaces I depict, I locate the crucial process of recollection—a deliberate sifting through past thoughts and behaviours. This introspective return is framed not as indulgence, but as accountability. By revisiting previous actions, I argue, we gain the clarity to identify missteps without self-condemnation. These corrections become the precise mechanism through which development occurs, transforming error into instruction. Through my work, I aim to explain that rejuvenation is an active, disciplined practice of realignment. I reject the myth of linear, relentless progress, advocating instead for cyclical, reflective rhythms of growth and renewal.
